Guiding People to Their Own Wisdom

Friends and acquaintances sometimes ask: “Isn’t it depressing to listen to people’s problems all day long?” That question always surprises me because it doesn’t at all define how I relate to people and how I think about our work together.

For me, every client’s problem holds within it a kernel of magic and wisdom that needs to be found and activated. It is my job to guide them to that kernel.

I rely on two philosophies and the skill sets that support them: Neuro Linguistic Programming and The Enneagram personality profile. Both are designed to increase one’s self awareness and flexibility.

When one is aware of the motivating factors that drive his behaviors, and knows how to change the internal landscape that drives his emotions, he can be in charge of his destiny. I don’t claim that we can ever achieve perfection, but we certainly can become our own coach toward achieving the satisfaction we desire in life.

It’s satisfying for me to watch people “wake up” to themselves and all the power they have to influence their own lives. How can that ever be depressing?
